The key to creating a wireless electric dog fence lies in statistical data collection from the transceiver planted in your dog’s collar and, more importantly, its refinement and thorough analysis.  It is the filtering and analysis of this data where other products on the market fall short; they are unable to avoid statistical anomalies creeping into data analysis that typically result in creating fuzzy boundaries.

Havahart® Wireless uses the Kalman filter which is the same data filtering technique used by NASA.  This strategic distortion filtering, along with the use of complex algorithms and modular signal amplification, enhances the transceiver’s capability to filter out erroneous statistics and perform beyond its normal limitations.  This, essentially, translates into constant signal strength throughout the boundary giving it razor-sharp character.  The result is a smarter and more efficient wireless electric pet fence.

“Time of Flight Ranging Technology”

But, what truly sets Havahart® Wireless system apart from the rest is its patented “Time of Flight Ranging Technology.”  Simply put, Time of Flight is the time it takes for a signal to travel from the base, to the collar, and back at the speed of light.  This enables the base to accurately calculate the distance to the dog. By continually ranging to the collar to determine the time of flight, the Havahart® Wireless system is able to determine the real-time location of your dog.  Based on the data collected, the base can determine whether or not a correction should be delivered through the collar.

Custom Boundaries:  “Event Stamp Mapping”

A unique feature of the custom-shaped fence is a process known as “Event Stamp Mapping.”  This allows the base to record the location of the fence boundary—similar to the way GPS technology works—allowing you to create a custom fence of virtually any shape and dimension.

This technology is also used to create a fence within a fence.  Once again, by sending your coordinates to the base, you have the ability to create custom exclusion zones inside the roaming area to keep your dog out of designated locations such as flowerbeds and pools.


To pinpoint the location of your dog, Havahart® Wireless uses a technology known as “Trilateration.”  The two bases closest to your dog each send out a radial signal, the system then emits a third signal from one of the two remaining bases.  It is the exact intersection of these three radial signals that rounds out the amazing technology that results in pinpointing the real-time location of your dog for the custom-shaped wireless dog fence, giving you the peace of mind that the system knows where your dog is at all times.
